The construction path for the second AIIMS in Darbhanga, Bihar, has now been cleared. The central government has granted approval for the land allocated in Darbhanga’s Shobhan Bypass, along with a budget provision of ₹1264 crores for the Darbhanga AIIMS. Following the allocation of funds, the Health Department set start proceedings for the construction works .The construction of Darbhanga AIIMS is also approved under the Prime Minister’s Health Security Scheme.
A central team will visit Darbhanga on February 12th to assess the allocated land in Shobhan. Led by the Secretary of Health, Sudhansh Pant, the team will represent the Central Health Ministry. The state government is tasked with ensuring connectivity, leveling the land, and providing electricity and water supply, meeting the conditions set by the central government. The design of Darbhanga AIIMS has been tailored to fulfill local needs, incorporating earthquake-resistant pillars and underground parking to reduce soil excavation costs.
After a prolonged wait, the people of Mithila have finally seen their demand for AIIMS fulfilled. With state approval and design modifications, expectations are high for swift commencement of construction. People express their hope that had decisions been made in a timely manner, the foundation laying and inauguration could have preceded the legislative elections. Now, the anticipation is for the construction work to commence promptly.
