The Bihar Cabinet has expanded, with a total of 30 ministers now including the Chief Minister. Nine ministers have taken oath from the JDU quota. After the 2020 assembly elections, some JDU legislators have become ministers for the third time, some for the second time, and one for the first time. While JDU has shown trust in old faces, BJP has displayed social engineering by appointing ministers from its quota.

Among those appointed for the third time from the JDU quota are Ashok Choudhary, Lesi Singh, Jayant Raj, Sunil Kumar, Jama Khan, Sheila Kumari, and Madan Sahni. Those appointed for the second time include Ratnesh Sada, and newcomers to ministerial positions include Maheshwar Hazari.

JDU’s Nine Ministers:
Nine ministers from the JDU quota have taken oath, including three from the Scheduled Caste community. One minister is from the Scheduled Tribe community, two from the Extremely Backward Classes, one from the Backward Classes, one from the General category, and one from the Muslim community.

Before this, Ashok Choudhary, who comes from the Scheduled Caste community, held the position of Minister for Building Construction. He has also had a political career in Congress, serving as its state president. Lesi Singh, from the Rajput community, previously served twice as the Minister for Food and Consumer Protection. Madan Sahni, representing the Extremely Backward Classes, previously held the position of Minister for Social Welfare.

First-Time Minister After 2020:
Maheshwar Hazari has been appointed as a minister for the first time since 2020. Previously, he served as the Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. He represents the Scheduled Caste community. Sheila Kumari, who became a legislator for the first time in 2020, has become a minister. She has taken the oath for the third time. She was previously the Transport Minister and represents the Extremely Backward Classes.

Former IPS Officer Sunil Kumar:
Sunil Kumar has taken charge as a minister for the third time since 2020. He was a senior IPS officer. He became a legislator for the first time in 2020 and then became a minister. He was given the responsibility of the Prohibition and Excise Department. He belongs to the Scheduled Caste community.

Youth Leader Jayant Raj:
Youth leader Jayant Raj has taken oath as a minister for the third time since 2020. Before this, he held ministerial positions in the Rural Development Department and the Department of Minor Water Resources. He comes from the Backward Class. Jama Khan has also taken oath as a minister for the third time. Previously, he was the Minority Welfare Minister. He comes from the Muslim community. Ratnesh Sada has also taken oath for the second time as a minister. He comes from the Scheduled Tribes community.

BJP’s Social Engineering in Cabinet Expansion:
The BJP has paid full attention to social engineering in the expansion of the Nitish government’s cabinet. BJP has appointed five ministers from the General category, three from the Backward Class, two from the Extremely Backward Class, and two Dalit ministers. Renu Devi, ex deputy CM, who became the minister for the second time, belongs to the Nonia caste from the Extremely Backward Class. Hari Sahni, who became a minister for the first time after being elected as a councilor and Haris Sahni, also belong to the Extremely Backward Class. Dilip Jaiswal, a legislator from the Backward Class, and legislators Kedar Prasad Gupta and Surendra Mehta, representing the Vaishya community and the Kushwaha caste respectively, have become ministers for the first time. Meanwhile, Janak Ram and Krishna Nandan Paswan, who became ministers for the second time, come from the Dalit community. Mandal Pandey and Neeraj Kumar Singh, who have taken oath as ministers for the second time and the first time respectively, are from the Brahmin community.

First or Second Time Ministers:
Janak Ram and Krishna Nandan Paswan have taken oath as ministers for the second time, while legislators Janak Ram and Krishna Nandan Paswan have taken oath as ministers for the second time. Neeraj Kumar Singh has become a minister for the second time, while Santosh Singh Rajput has taken oath as a minister for the first time.
