KANDHKOT, Kashmore District , Sindh, Pakistan -A devastating incident unfolded on Wednesday in the serene Mehwal Shah area of Kashmore District’s Kandhkot tehsil, leaving a community reeling in sorrow. Reports from the scene reveal that a rocket launcher’s shell detonated within a residence, resulting in the tragic loss of eight lives and causing injuries to three others, including children.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rohail Khoso, the authoritative voice on the matter, confirmed these heart-wrenching casualties. Among the victims, four innocent children, two women, and one man met their untimely demise. The ill-fated house, nestled within the jurisdiction of the Goghat police station, bore the name of its owner, Ali Nawaz Sabzoi. In a cruel twist of fate, all those affected by this calamity were members of the same family.
SSP Khoso shed light on the grim sequence of events, revealing that children had inadvertently stumbled upon a rocket shell while engrossed in their innocent play on the ground. Tragically, they carried this dangerous discovery home, where it detonated with catastrophic consequences, extinguishing eight precious lives in an instant. Law enforcement swiftly descended upon the scene, cordoning off the area as investigations into this grievous incident commenced. The wounded, among whom children were sadly counted, were rushed for medical attention, and an emergency declaration was enacted at the Kandhkot Civil Hospital.
In the wake of this harrowing tragedy, Sindh Chief Minister Justice Maqbool Baqar has taken decisive action, seeking answers and accountability. Expressing profound sorrow, the Chief Minister expressed his concern regarding how a rocket launcher found its way into the peaceful Zangi Subzwai Goth. He questioned the possibility of weapons smuggling into these remote areas and whether there exist accomplices aiding the criminals within the village.
Perplexed by the circumstances leading to the rocket launcher’s detonation, Chief Minister Baqar urgently directed the Provincial Inspector General to provide a comprehensive report on this disturbing incident. He emphasized, “A detailed report shall be submitted to me.”
