In a display of diplomatic finesse, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held a significant telephonic conversation with his counterpart from the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The discourse centered on the growing “crisis” in the West Asian region, stemming from the recent series of attacks on Israel orchestrated by Hamas militants, and the ensuing retaliatory actions by Tel Aviv.

The honorable Jaishankar, who is presently embarked on an official visit to Sri Lanka, offered his insights and exchanged perspectives with Sheikh Abdullah. Their deliberations were instrumental in fostering a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding the situation.

“Spoke to Foreign Minister @ABZayed of UAE this evening. Discussed the ongoing crisis in West Asia. Agreed to stay in touch,” articulated the External Affairs Minister in a social media post, indicating the commitment to sustained dialogue on the matter.

The relentless and multi-faceted assaults by Hamas militants originating from Gaza against Israel since the weekend, coupled with the corresponding Israeli countermeasures, have tragically resulted in the loss of more than 1,200 lives. This harrowing situation has triggered an escalation of global apprehension and unease.

In a noteworthy act of solidarity and unequivocal condemnation of terrorism in all its manifestations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a conversation with his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu. He conveyed the unwavering support of the Indian populace during this challenging period and expressed India’s strong condemnation of all forms of terrorism.

Netanyahu personally apprised Prime Minister Modi of the ongoing developments in the region, thereby fostering an even stronger bond between the two nations during this trying time.

As the crisis in the West Asian region continues to evolve, the international community watches with heightened concern, advocating for peace and resolution in the midst of these turbulent circumstances.
