New York: In a stern address during a quarterly open debate on the Middle East at the United Nations Security Council, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken issued a clear warning to Iran and its proxies amidst the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. Blinken stated unequivocally that any hostile actions against U.S. personnel would be met with swift and decisive responses, emphasizing that the United States does not seek conflict with Iran but will prioritize the safety and security of its citizens.

During the UN Security Council session, Secretary Blinken also articulated his commitment to collaborate with China’s top diplomat, Wang Yi, in preventing the escalation of the Middle East crisis. The two diplomats are set to convene in Washington later this week, with hopes of finding diplomatic solutions to the ongoing conflict.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres weighed in on the Israel-Hamas war, expressing deep concern over violations of international humanitarian law as Gaza continued to be the target of military actions. Guterres emphasized that no party in an armed conflict is exempt from adhering to international humanitarian law.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, at the same UN session, criticized the United Nations Security Council, accusing it of exacerbating the Gaza crisis by allegedly favoring the “Israeli regime.” He called on the international community to take immediate steps to prevent further civilian casualties and implement a ceasefire.

This development comes at a crucial juncture in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, with diplomats and world leaders seeking diplomatic avenues to restore peace and stability
