The FBI has intensified its corruption investigation into New York City Mayor Eric Adams by seizing electronic devices, including at least two mobile phones and an iPad, according to a report by The New York Times. This move follows a recent raid on the home of Brianna Suggs, Adams’s chief campaign fundraiser. Agents reportedly approached Adams on the street, temporarily confiscating his devices under court-issued authorization.
The investigation stems from alleged non-disclosure of the source of approximately $300,000 in campaign donations. While it remains unclear if this relates to a violation of campaign finance rules, the FBI is reportedly exploring whether Adams’s 2021 campaign conspired with the Turkish government and others to funnel money.
Adams, a former NYPD captain, affirmed his full cooperation with the investigation, emphasizing transparency. His campaign attorney, Boyd Johnson, stated that Adams has not been accused of any wrongdoing and continues to collaborate with investigators. The FBI has yet to comment on the ongoing investigation.
