In a strategic move to bolster global connectivity and foster economic inclusivity, India has declared its readiness to extend its expertise in Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) to nations in the Global South. Economic Affairs Secretary, Ajay Seth, affirmed this commitment during the second virtual Voice of the Global South summit.

Seth highlighted India’s proactive engagement with international entities such as the UN and G20, aiming to export successful digital initiatives like CoWin and UPI. The government is actively working towards establishing a robust framework for certifying and benchmarking its DPIs and public goods (DPGs).

Referred to as the Indian Stack, this comprehensive digital infrastructure comprises platforms like Aadhaar, Digital Locker, DigiYatra, and UPI. Developed through collaborative efforts across multiple sectors, these platforms aim to streamline access to government services and drive inclusive growth.

The DPI initiative seeks to provide citizens with a seamless and efficient means of accessing government services, aligning with India’s commitment to fostering inclusive development. Amidst global challenges impacting recovery efforts and progress on sustainable development goals (SDGs), Seth emphasized the pivotal role of the Global South in shaping decisions of significant consequence. The call for continued dialogue and cooperation resonates as nations grapple with economic constraints, inflation, rising interest rates, and geopolitical tensions affecting trade.
