In a surprising turn of events, the Canadian embassy has efficiently processed student visas for the January intake, despite recent diplomatic tensions between India and Canada. Students from Gujarat, initially apprehensive about potential delays due to the diplomatic standoff, have witnessed an unprecedented pace in the visa issuance process.

Consultants and immigration experts had initially expressed concerns about the January batch facing complications if Canada discontinued outsourcing immigration processes in India. However, these worries have been proven unfounded as most students received their visas within a fortnight of application.

Dhruvi Patel, set to pursue post-graduation in strategy management in Toronto, shared her positive experience, receiving the visa just three days after submitting biometric data. Similarly, Mittany Gohil, heading to Lethbridge College in Alberta for graduate studies, expressed astonishment at receiving her visa on November 19 after applying on November 1.

Nisarg Patel, enrolled in an advanced diploma course at Sheridan College, had his visa processed within a week, emphasizing Canada’s favorable education system and enhanced prospects for permanent residency compared to other countries.

Despite the Indo-Canada diplomatic entanglement, Himanshi Trivedi, studying BSc in fisheries, wildlife, and conservation sciences at British Columbia University, received her visa remarkably quickly—within six days of application.

Bhavin Thakar, a visa consultant, highlighted that the Canadian embassy’s record time visa issuance, ranging from six to 15 days, has not only relieved the anxieties of students but also facilitated better flight ticket bookings.

As the diplomatic landscape undergoes shifts, this unexpected efficiency in visa processing brings relief to aspiring students and signals resilience in educational exchanges between the two nations.
