Ayodhya, The upcoming international airport in Ayodhya is set to be named ‘Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhya Dham,’ according to sources reported by news agency ANI. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the airport on December 30, coinciding with the renaming of the Ayodhya railway station to Ayodhya Dham Junction.
This decision aligns with preparations for the grand consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple on January 22, attracting dignitaries from around the world. The airport, developed at a cost of over ₹1,450 crore, will connect Ayodhya globally, featuring a 6,500 square meters area with a capacity to serve over 10 lakh passengers annually.
Reflecting the architectural style of the Ram temple, the airport’s interiors boast indigenous artworks depicting various aspects of Lord Ram’s life. Noteworthy sustainability features include an insulated roofing system, LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, landscaping with fountains, a water treatment plant, a sewage treatment plant, and a solar power plant, aiming for a five-star GRIHA rating (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment).
The Prime Minister’s Office highlighted the realization of PM Modi’s vision for Ayodhya’s redevelopment, encompassing not only the airport but also a revamped railway station and enhanced civic infrastructure.
