BJP leader Raja Singh was detained at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad on Sunday while heading to Medak, where communal tensions had erupted over animal sacrifice. Officials placed him under house arrest.

Singh claimed that cow vigilantes in Medak were attacked by goons, alleging police complicity with the attackers. According to Singh, vigilantes received information on Saturday about 100 cows and 70 calves bought for slaughter for Bakri Eid.

“They [cow vigilantes] went to the police station, but the police did not take any action. The vigilantes got angry and went to the location where the cows and calves were tied up. When they arrived, butchers attacked them, and one member, Arun Raj, was attacked with a knife,” Singh told ANI.

Singh urged the police to release the cows and calves and to take action against those involved in the violence. He criticized the law and order situation under the Congress government in Telangana, stating, “Congress’s ‘gundaraj’ is going on in Telangana.”

On Saturday, tensions escalated when a mob gathered around the Miraj-ul-Uloom Madrasa after its management purchased cattle for Bakri Eid sacrifices. Clashes between two communities occurred at three different locations, resulting in several injuries. In response, the Medak Police imposed Section 144 to control the situation.

Meanwhile, ten BJP workers, including the BJP Medak district president and the town chief, were arrested.
