The eagerly awaited Asia Cup showdown between Pakistan and India, set to unfold in Sri Lanka’s Kandy, teeters on the precipice of disruption as meteorological forecasts for the day forebode a substantial likelihood of inclement weather.

Scheduled to commence at 2 oclock (pm) Indian time, and 2:30 pm (Pakistan Standard Time), this much-anticipated contest finds itself ensnared by a disquieting forecast from AccuWeather, a renowned forecasting agency. According to their meteorological pronouncements, Kandy stands poised for adverse atmospheric conditions. A symphony of “thundery showers” and gentle zephyrs is anticipated to materialize from the early hours, commencing at 8:30 am and persisting until approximately 4:30 pm.

Furthermore, the forecast augurs the presence of “light rain showers” accompanied by benign breezes, poised to grace the entirety of the day’s proceedings. It is portended that three distinct bouts of showers shall grace the day’s canvas, accompanied by an ominous 94 percent probability of precipitation.

As the day surrenders to the night, the meteorological soothsayers envision an 87 percent probability of rainfall, with the specter of heavy downpours lurking in the shadows.

In parallel, another venerable meteorological oracle, Weather.com, chimes in with its own prophetic narrative, prophesying an 80 percent likelihood of diurnal precipitation, coupled with a 70 percent chance once the sun takes its leave.

This grim meteorological portent conjures memories of the 2019 World Cup encounter, a historic clash between these arch-rivals that bore the brunt of relentless rain. In the end, India emerged triumphant, securing an 89-run victory through the recalibrated Duckworth-Lewis method, etching another chapter in the annals of their storied rivalry.
