New Delhi: In a fresh threat, Khalistani leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has reportedly warned of an impending attack on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) starting March 12, 2023. Pannun, labeled a ‘terrorist’ in India, allegedly called for the “economic destruction” of India, urging individuals to sell Indian stocks and invest in American stocks before the specified date.
The threat is coupled with Pannun identifying banks and corporates involved in international trade as potential targets, as reported by News 18. March 12 holds significance as the 31st anniversary of the Mumbai serial blasts, in which the BSE building was targeted.
Indian intelligence sources have stated that Pannun’s motive behind this campaign is driven by financial gains following the failure of his previous referendum. He is accused of working as a foreign agent for agencies sheltering him under the guise of freedom of speech.
This recent threat follows Pannun’s alleged instigation of Muslims to disrupt the Prime Minister’s Ayodhya roadshow on December 30, accompanied by a reward offer of $100,000. Pannun has a history of making threats, including plans to disrupt the ICC World Cup final, attacking the Indian Parliament, and warning the global Sikh community against flying aboard Air India.
Pannun had previously come into the spotlight when US officials revealed details of a foiled plot to kill him on American soil, resulting in charges against an Indian national, Nikhil Gupta. The investigation into this case is ongoing.
