Bihar is set to experience a shift in weather once again, as a Western Disturbance is expected to bring rainfall across the state. On the third day of the month of Phagun, Tuesday afternoon saw sudden cloud cover extending throughout South and Central Bihar, accompanied by winds at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. The air carried a refreshing coolness, marking a noticeable change in the atmosphere. The weather is expected to remain unsettled until March 3, with the possibility of rainfall.
Seventh Western Disturbance to Make an Impact…
According to official information from IMD (Indian Meteorological Department), the sixth Western Disturbance is currently active in the state as of February 27. The seventh Western Disturbance is expected to arrive on February 29. Senior meteorologist Shailendra Kumar Patel from IMD Patna mentioned that the activity of Western Disturbances in February is setting a record trend, typically observed in November-December and January.
Rainfall Forecast…
As per IMD Patna’s forecast, there is a prediction of light rainfall continuing in the state until March 3. The active Western Disturbance from February 29 may lead to rainfall in North-Western, North-Central, South-Central, and South-Western Bihar. These regions might experience a spell of rain, particularly until March 3.
Temperature Across Bihar Districts…
On Tuesday, the average maximum temperature in the state was recorded between 26-27 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature was reported in Vaishali at 28.7 degrees Celsius. Light rainfall has already begun in South Bihar on February 27, attributed to the Western Disturbance. The combined effect of this disturbance and an active trough line from North-East Bihar has resulted in a change in weather. Due to this change, Tuesday’s maximum temperature was 1 to 3 degrees lower than normal. The night temperatures are also experiencing a slight increase.

On Tuesday, Bhagalpur witnessed continuous cloud cover throughout the day, though there were no reports of rainfall. The temperature rose by two degrees amidst sun and shade. The maximum temperature recorded was 27.8 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 14.3 degrees Celsius. The temperature may further increase after the clouds disperse. People may feel a cool breeze, and with changing weather, there is a concern about health issues. According to the Bihar Agricultural Meteorological Services at BAU Sabour, there is a possibility of a temperature increase in Bhagalpur between February 28 and March 3, with light clouds in the sky and dry cool winds.

On Tuesday, the air quality in ten cities of the state was categorized as poor. Siwan recorded the worst air quality with an AQI of 316, followed by Araria with an AQI of 306. Changes in city weather and an increase in pollution levels are contributing to poor air quality.
