Patna: Vegetables grown in Bihar will now be available abroad. The state government has prepared a plan for exporting these vegetables to Dubai and other countries. The Nitish Kumar government has started working on an ambitious plan to facilitate this export. The formation and registration of cooperative societies are underway to manage this export process. These cooperative societies will handle the export of vegetables from Bihar. The Chief Minister stated that creating an export policy for vegetables in Bihar is essential. Initiating vegetable exports will open a new chapter in the development of cooperative societies, marking a significant milestone for them.

Efforts to Improve Departmental Coordination

A crucial meeting on vegetable production and processing was held in the Cooperative Department. Post-meeting, Cooperative Minister Dr. Prem Kumar announced that Bihar’s vegetables will soon be available in foreign markets. Preparations to export vegetables from Bihar to countries like Dubai and Nepal are almost complete, and the process will start soon. He instructed officials to establish coordination with the Industry and Agriculture Departments. Additionally, coordination with departments such as Education, Health, and Home Affairs is being arranged to supply vegetables for midday meals, hospitals, and jails. Plans are also being discussed to open retail outlets in parks under the Forest Department for vegetable sales.

Increase in Income for Vegetable Producers

Prem Kumar emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been working to promote farming across the country. Under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, farmers receive an annual sum of 6,000 INR. The Minister mentioned that discussions are ongoing to register three associations at the Indian Vegetable Research Institute in Varanasi, enabling cooperative societies to receive training. This initiative will directly benefit farmers by allowing them to sell their produce outside the local market, securing better prices and increasing their income.

Development of Infrastructure

Minister Prem Kumar stressed the need for building infrastructure within all cooperative societies. He directed that construction work should be completed promptly. Appropriate office facilities are being arranged for the operation of vegetable producer cooperative societies and associations in the state. Societies that already have buildings will operate from there, while those whose construction is incomplete will rent premises for their operations.
