Patna, Bihar: Weather patterns have taken a turn in Bihar, with the effects becoming evident as early as April. The hot air has heightened people’s restlessness, leading to decreased crowds on the streets during midday. However, the heat of May and June still looms. According to the Meteorological Center, there is a possibility of light rain accompanied by thunderstorms in the next 24 hours in Bhavua, Rohtas, Banka, Jamui, Aurangabad, Gaya, and Nawada districts of South Bihar. Despite this, relief from the heat may not be immediate for Bihar residents in the next one to two days.
Vaishali Records a High of 42.9 Degrees Celsius
In the last 24 hours, Vaishali recorded the highest temperature at 42.9 degrees Celsius, followed by Sheikhpura at 41.8, Aurangabad at 41.5, Banka at 40.3, Nawada at 40.5, Buxar at 39.9, Jamui at 39.8, Gopalganj at 39.7, Motihari at 39.2, Gaya at 39.6, and Patna at 38.3 degrees Celsius. The soaring temperatures have left residents of these districts distressed, with the state’s average maximum temperature staying above normal at 37 degrees Celsius.
Breaking Records: April 2010 Revisited
According to the Meteorological Center, April 22, 2010, witnessed the breaking of nearly 40-year-old records, with the maximum temperature reaching 43.5 degrees Celsius. With the current trend in rising temperatures, it seems likely that more records from April could be surpassed. The Indian Meteorological Department predicts an increase in cloud activity and moisture in the air over the next four to five days. This is due to the active presence of anti-cyclonic air in the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, suggesting the possibility of light rain in Southern Bihar and other parts of the country.
