The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has finally decided to cancel the third phase of the teacher recruitment examination. This decision comes after an investigation by the Economic Offences Wing revealed irregularities in the leaked papers. The exams, held on March 15 in both shifts, have been nullified by the commission. A new date for the examination will be announced later.

Earlier, just before the BPSC teacher recruitment exam, a major operation was conducted by the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) in collaboration with Bihar and Jharkhand police. They apprehended candidates practicing for the exam in a hotel in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. During the investigation, irregularities were found, including the leakage of the question paper on March 14, a day before the scheduled exam date.

It was uncovered during the EOU investigation that a gang of solvers had struck deals with candidates, charging them amounts ranging from ten to ten lakh rupees. The candidates paid hefty sums, after which they were taken to the Kohinoor Hotel in Hazaribagh for exam preparation. Documents seized from the gang provide evidence of transactions. Testimonies from candidates also corroborated these findings.

Tejaswi Yadav, in a serious allegation, stated that the collusion between the JDU-BJP government and the cheating mafia had tarnished Bihar’s image. For the first time in the history of competitive exams, answer keys were provided on admit cards in the third phase of teacher recruitment exams, indicating the extent of the malpractice.

The leaking of examination papers has become a curse for the youth. Rahul Gandhi, during a Congress rally, raised questions about the government’s negligence, corrupt officials, the cheating mafia, and private printing presses. He emphasized the urgent need to eradicate this criminal nexus and ensure accountability at every level. Students attribute the leakage of papers to a corrupted government system, private printing presses, and widespread corruption within the board.
