In a significant development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended seven individuals, including the Executive Secretary of the Chief Managing Director (CMD) at the public sector enterprise Bridge and Roof Company (India) Ltd. The arrests are linked to a purported Rs 20 lakh bribery case related to the award of a tender for the Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) project in Odisha to a private company based in Gujarat.
Among those arrested are Executive Secretary Ashish Razdan and Hetal Kumar Pravinchandra Rajyaguru, the owner of the private firm. The CBI, as part of its probe, conducted searches across multiple cities, including Kolkata, Delhi, Noida, Mumbai, Nagpur, and Rajkot. During these operations, the agency successfully recovered Rs 19.96 lakh in bribe money, along with an additional sum of Rs 26.60 lakh in cash.
Furthermore, during the sting operation, five more private individuals were taken into custody.
