New Delhi:The Ministry of Corporate Affairs reports a significant uptick in active companies, surpassing 1.6 million by October’s end. The surge, with over 96,800 companies formed this fiscal year, is spearheaded by the service sector.

Key Points:

– At the end of March 2023, India had 1.53 million companies, witnessing a notable increase despite technical glitches post the MCA21 portal revamp.

– In October alone, 15,603 companies were incorporated, with community, personal, and social services contributing over 25%, and trading and business services at 16%.

– The service sector dominates new registrations, constituting 42% of all incorporations in October, followed by manufacturing at 14%.

– Maharashtra leads in new company registrations (17%), followed by Uttar Pradesh (11%) and Delhi (9%).

Women’s Representation:

– Data reveals 25% of director identification numbers (DINs) issued in October for ages 18-30 went to women. The share was 34% in the 31-45 age group but slightly lower for more senior professionals.

– The figures underscore the journey ahead to achieve gender equality by 2030.

Regional Insights:

– Maharashtra reported the highest number of new company registrations in October, capturing a 17% share.

– Uttar Pradesh followed with 11%, and Delhi secured 9%.

The remarkable growth in business registrations, particularly in the service sector, signals a dynamic economic landscape. As gender representation evolves, there is anticipation for continued momentum in India’s business sector.
