Tata is set to establish India’s largest iPhone assembly plant in Tamil Nadu’s Hosur, aiming to boost South Asian production and generate jobs for over 50,000 people. The facility, expected to be operational by late 2024, could surpass the iPhone production rate of Tata’s Karnataka plant acquired from Wistron. The move aims to localize the Apple supply chain and potentially reduce the cost of Apple smartphones in India, enhancing competition with Samsung.

Tata Electronics, already operating a significant plant in Hosur with over 5,000 employees, has initiated hiring for the new Tamil Nadu facility. This expansion follows Tata’s acquisition of Wistron’s Apple production plant in Karnataka for USD 123 million, with a goal of shipping iPhones worth USD 1.4 billion.
