Patna, To address increasing traffic congestion on Ashok Rajpath and in the vicinity of Gandhi Maidan, the administration has imposed restrictions on city buses, e-rickshaws, and other commercial vehicles during peak hours. Alternate routes will be designated for these vehicles to alleviate congestion.

A meeting between Patna traffic police and the Patna Smart City Project Limited (PSCL) was conducted to find solutions to the traffic problem. According to Traffic SP Puran Kumar Jha, city buses will be restricted from moving towards Kargil Chowk from the Children’s Park side. However, this restriction does not apply to school buses. City buses can park on J P Ganga Path and will not be allowed to move towards Children’s Park. The commercial vehicles will have one-way traffic from Children’s Park to Kargil Chowk during peak hours. E-rickshaws from Patna Junction will not proceed beyond Ramgulam Chowk from 1 pm to 4 pm, and those from Kurji and west of Ashok Rajpath will take a U-turn at Children’s Park during this period.

A campaign against unauthorized parking in the Gandhi Maidan area is set to begin on December 20, with fines imposed for haphazard parking.

In response to heavy traffic on Monday, all gates of Gandhi Maidan were opened to ease congestion. The conditions worsened due to the dismissal of city schools at noon. School buses were allowed to enter and exit Gandhi Maidan through specified gates, further occupying the historic space.
