Delhi Airport saw highest-ever single-day passenger traffic on November 28

New Delhi, In a remarkable milestone, Delhi Airport reported an unprecedented single-day passenger traffic record on November 28, reaching an impressive 221,000 passengers, according to data released by GMR Airports. Notably, this achievement contributes to the airport’s highest-ever traffic in the first eight months of the financial year, totaling 47.8 million passengers, marking a 15% increase compared to the same period in 2022.

During November alone, air passenger traffic saw a 7% rise, reaching 6.07 million, compared to the previous year. However, this growth was flat when compared to October figures. The data further highlights that in the fiscal year 2023-24, Delhi Airport consistently handled nearly 6 million passengers each month.

The Indira Gandhi International Airport, managed by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), boasts a majority stake of 64% held by the GMR Group, followed by 26% from the Airports Authority of India.

In a similar trend, Hyderabad Airport also experienced a record-breaking year-to-date (YTD) air passenger traffic till November 2023, reaching 16.3 million passengers, a notable 22% increase compared to the previous fiscal year. In November alone, the airport saw 2.03 million passengers, marking a 16% growth from November 2022. Hyderabad Airport recently introduced India’s first Internet of Things (IoT)-powered Smart Trolleys to enhance passenger guidance.

Goa Airport witnessed a 15% increase in passenger traffic in November, reaching 388,940, compared to October. As of November 30, 2023, the airport served 2.5 million passengers.

Among the international airports under the GMR Group’s control, Medan Airport in Indonesia recorded a 21% rise in passenger traffic between April and November 2023, totaling 4.9 million. Cebu Airport experienced a remarkable 66% year-to-date growth till November 30, 2023, reaching 6.8 million passengers.
