MUMBAI: Adani Group responded to allegations from Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena regarding the Dharavi slum redevelopment project, asserting it was awarded through a transparent international bidding process under the previous Congress-Shiv Sena coalition government. Adani’s Dharavi Redevelopment Project Pvt Ltd (DRPPL) clarified that all financial conditions were transparent, and the obligations and incentives remained unchanged for the awardee.
The project, aiming to transform the world’s largest slum into a modern city hub, involves resettling one million residents. The tender conditions were finalized during the Maha Vikas Aghadi government’s tenure, and Adani Group emphasized that no special benefits were granted to them post the tendering process.
The statement underlined the importance of the project in providing better living conditions, education, vocational training, healthcare, employment opportunities, and essential amenities for Dharavi residents. Adani Group expressed commitment to this transformation, considering previous unsuccessful attempts to bring about positive change in the area.
