Following Australia’s series-clinching victory against Pakistan at the MCG, Mohammad Hafeez, Pakistan’s Director of Cricket, claimed his team played “better cricket” despite the loss. In response, Australia’s captain Pat Cummins exhibited nonchalance, stating, “Doesn’t really matter, does it? It’s the team that wins at the end.”

Despite Hafeez’s remarks applauding Pakistan’s performance, Cummins focused on the outcome and expressed satisfaction with the win. The third Test saw Australia emerge victorious by 79 runs, securing a 2-0 triumph in the three-match series.

Cummins, whose outstanding performance contributed significantly to Australia’s win, downplayed Hafeez’s assessment during the post-match press conference. He acknowledged Pakistan’s good play but emphasized the ultimate importance of winning as a team.

The match’s pivotal moments occurred on Day 4, with Pakistan showing resilience before Cummins, the Test skipper, took 10 wickets in an MCG Test. His inspirational performance quashed Pakistan’s hopes of a comeback, leading to their collapse from 216/5 to 237 all out.

The reporter’s attempt to extract a reaction from Cummins regarding Hafeez’s statement was met with a straightforward response, emphasizing the significance of the team that emerges victorious.
