In a noteworthy development, India’s domestic air traffic set a new record on November 20, with airlines transporting an impressive 4,59,526 passengers. The civil aviation ministry, attributing this success to positive attitudes, progressive policies, and the trust of passengers, expressed their delight on social media, emphasizing the consistent growth in domestic air travel since the post-COVID recovery.

The data for November 20 reveals a total of 5,958 flight movements, underscoring the robust revival of the aviation sector. This achievement marks the third consecutive day of record-breaking air passenger traffic, showcasing India’s resilience and recovery in the aviation domain.

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia hailed the occasion on social media, terming it a “hat trick” as domestic air passenger traffic achieved record-breaking numbers for three consecutive days. Notably, the traffic reached 4,56,748 on November 18, followed by a new peak of 4,56,910 on November 19, culminating in the latest high of 4,59,526 on November 20.

The ministry underscored the significance of this milestone by stating, “Taking flight to new heights! The Ministry of Civil Aviation soars as it celebrates the highest single-day air traffic since the pandemic hit, marking a remarkable 7.4% surge above pre-COVID averages. A clear sign of recovery and resilience in the skies.”

India, being one of the fastest-growing civil aviation markets globally, has witnessed an annual growth of nearly 11% in domestic air passenger traffic, reaching 1.26 crore in October. The consistent surge in domestic air travel indicates a positive trajectory for the aviation sector, reinforcing India’s strong comeback in the post-COVID era.
