The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) faces mounting challenges as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has lodged a complaint against AAP leader Amanatullah Khan for non-compliance with court summons. The ED filed the complaint in the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi, alleging that Amanatullah Khan has failed to abide by the summons issued to him.
Despite repeated summons issued by the ED in connection with allegations of irregularities in recruitment at the Delhi Waqf Board, AAP legislator Amanatullah Khan has not appeared for questioning. It is notable that Khan has been summoned multiple times by the ED regarding the investigation into money laundering linked to purported irregularities in the Delhi Waqf Board recruitment. However, Khan has consistently failed to appear for questioning.
The complaint filed by the ED under section 174 of the IPC, 1860 alleges a case of non-compliance with summons under section 50, PMLA, 2002, and section 63(4) of the PMLA, 2002. Previously, the Delhi High Court had dismissed Amanatullah Khan’s anticipatory bail plea on March 11.
Court Hearing Scheduled for Saturday
According to reports from the news agency ANI, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Divya Malhotra has listed the matter for April 6. The court will hear the case tomorrow. The ED has accused Amanatullah under various sections of the IPC for his alleged involvement in illegal recruitment at the Waqf Board and money laundering. It has been alleged that Khan, while serving as the chairman of the Waqf Board, made irregular appointments of 32 individuals. Amanatullah Khan is currently an AAP MLA from Okhla in Delhi.
ED’s Repeated Actions
The ED had previously conducted raids at several locations in the Okhla constituency over allegations of illegal recruitment and money laundering at the Waqf Board. The ED alleges that the legislator amassed considerable wealth through fraudulent means. It is worth noting that the ED has summoned AAP legislator Amanatullah Khan six times, but he has failed to appear for questioning.
Arvind Kejriwal in Jail
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal is currently in Tihar Jail in connection with the Delhi Liquor Policy case. Apart from Kejriwal, former Deputy CM of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, is also in jail. However, AAP MLA Sanjay Singh was recently released on interim bail in the same case. Now, the ED’s spotlight is on AAP legislator Amanatullah Khan.
