SpaceX’s founder, Elon Musk, announced plans on Sunday to transport one million (10 lakh ) people to Mars during a post on the social media platform X. Musk stated, “We are developing a game plan to take ten lakh people to Mars.” He emphasized the idea that civilization flourishes only when Mars is habitable, even if Earth’s supply ships cease to come.
Musk responded to user queries, stating that the Starship, currently the largest rocket ever built by SpaceX, will transport humans to Mars. He envisions a future where a trip to Mars becomes as common as a domestic flight throughout the country.
Last week, Musk expressed his expectation that the Starship should be capable of reaching the Moon within five years. He anticipates SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft will surpass previous space travel records, bringing space travelers farther from Earth in less than half a century. Musk believes significant effort is required for human habitation on Mars.
Moreover, in January, Musk shared his hope that within the next eight years, SpaceX will send humans to the Moon. He speculated, “Eight years from now, how things will be… I think we would have landed on Mars, and I think we would have sent people to the Moon.”
Elon Musk aims to establish a base on the Moon and Mars, envisioning cities and human habitation among the stars. He recently stated, “We need to build a base on the Moon for humanity, have a city on Mars, and be there among the stars.” He emphasized the necessity of creating a Moon base and then sending people to Mars. Musk anticipates that the third Starship flight test will reach orbit this year, proving the spacecraft’s capability to reliably depart from Earth’s orbit.
