Renowned for his cinematic brilliance, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is set to make his mark in the digital world with his OTT debut, “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar.” The filmmaker, who broke into the big league with hits like “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” and “Devdas,” returns with an impressive ensemble cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, and Sanjeeda Sheikh.

Set against the backdrop of pre-independent India during a growing freedom movement, ‘Heeramandi’ delves into the power struggle involving a young heir who chooses love over succession. The narrative challenges the traditional role of tawaifs (courtesans), testing the last remnants of their art. With grand sets and opulent costumes, Bhansali weaves a gripping saga promising both grandeur and grace.

This much-anticipated OTT project, in the making for 14 years, is scheduled for release in 2024. The concept belongs to Moin Beg, with Sanjay Leela Bhansali credited as the creator and director. As the industry eagerly awaits this period saga, Bhansali’s foray into the digital realm is poised to make a significant impact on the streaming landscape.
