New Delhi, As winter chills set in, maintaining physical activity becomes crucial. Dr. Mohit Saran from Manipal Hospital Gurugram suggests aiming for 7,000 steps daily, including indoor activities like brisk walking, workouts, or yoga. This helps combat winter blues and promotes a healthy gut. Dr. Samrat D Shah recommends at least 20-30 minutes of indoor activity on tough days, emphasizing a minimum of 3,000 steps in cold winter months. Precautions include dressing in layers, staying hydrated, and protecting extremities. For surviving a cold wave, stay informed, dress appropriately, insulate your home, and engage in light indoor activities.

Key Tips for Cold Wave Survival:

1. Stay Informed:Monitor weather forecasts.

2. Dress Appropriately:Layer clothing and protect extremities.

3.Stay Indoors: Limit outdoor exposure.

4. Insulate Your Home:Seal gaps and use draft stoppers.

5. Heat Your Home Safely: Follow safety guidelines for heaters and fireplaces.

6. Stock Up on Supplies:Have enough essentials for power outages.

7. Check on Vulnerable Individuals: Keep an eye on neighbors and offer assistance if needed.

8. Stay Active: Engage in light indoor activities.

9. Stay Hydrated:Drink fluids despite the cold.

10.Be Cautious with Outdoor Activities: Follow safety guidelines for winter sports.

Remember, adapt these guidelines to your specific situation and location.
