As the inauguration of the Ram Mandir on January 22 approaches, the security apparatus is set to incorporate cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) surveillance. Anticipating a surge in pilgrim footfalls post-inauguration, the introduction of AI surveillance is viewed as a proactive measure to ensure the safety of the revered site.
The proposed AI surveillance system aims to detect patterns in visitor behavior and identify any unusual trends within the temple premises. This technology could prove instrumental in enhancing security by automatically raising alerts in response to suspicious activities.
In addition to AI surveillance, a robust security arrangement comprising 11,000 state police and paramilitary forces is expected to be in place for the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla.
A senior police official stated, “The threat perception of Ram temple is high. So, we need to keep a tight vigil on all movements in Ayodhya.” The AI surveillance project is set to undergo a pilot phase, and its feasibility will be assessed over time.
The system is designed to identify frequent visitors, track common trends among groups, and promptly alert security agencies of any potential threats. As part of the broader security plan, manual and social media vigilance has already been intensified in the lead-up to the January 22 event.
The verification process includes scrutinizing the backgrounds of various individuals, ranging from taxi drivers and e-rickshaw drivers to hotel staff, beggars, priests, and local residents in the vicinity of the Ram temple. Guest lists for the event are also being meticulously verified.
For the inauguration event, massive security deployment is anticipated, with 26 companies of paramilitary and PAC, around 8,000 civil police personnel, and the involvement of specialized units such as the UP Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) and National Security Guards.
The security strategy involves road diversions to Ayodhya and other districts, with traffic adjustments to ensure smooth travel for visitors. The existing security plan for the red zone, where the Ram Temple is located, includes CRPF, PAC, UPSSF, civil police personnel, bomb disposal squads, anti-sabotage teams, police radio communication personnel, and firefighters.
