QUETTA: In a tragic border incident, four Pakistani civilians were killed and two others injured when Iranian forces opened fire on a vehicle in Mashkil Bacha Rai, Balochistan, on Tuesday.

Assistant Commissioner Sahibzada Asfand confirmed that the victims were civilians. The deceased have been identified as Shukarullah, Asghar Ali,  Abdul Wasi,  and Dilawar, The injured are Mahan Gul, and Akhtar.

The firing incident occurred in the border town, a sensitive area in terms of security. Local authorities confirmed the fatalities and stated that the injured are receiving medical treatment.

Security measures have been heightened following the attack. The motive behind the firing and the events leading up to the incident are under investigation by local authorities.

The incident has escalated tensions between the two bordering countries, highlighting the need for careful management of border security issues.

In January, tensions between Pakistan and Iran intensified after Iran claimed to have struck a “militant hideout” in Panjgur, Balochistan, prompting Islamabad to recall its ambassador from Tehran. In retaliation, Pakistani forces targeted terrorists’ hideouts in Saravan, Sistan-Baluchestan province. However, through active diplomacy, the two nations agreed to reinstate their ambassadors shortly thereafter.
