In a recent interview, Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak sparked controversy by making disparaging remarks about India and China. Podolyak’s comments, published in an article by Sputnik, claimed that these countries possess a “weak intellectual potential” and lack the ability to fully comprehend the consequences of their actions.

He questioned India’s grasp of the modern world, despite its achievements in science and space exploration, citing India’s successful Chandrayaan-3 mission as an example. Podolyak’s statements have drawn attention to India’s diplomatic stance in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. India has refrained from imposing sanctions or openly condemning Russia’s actions, leading to both praise and criticism.

The controversy surrounding Podolyak’s comments follows a previous incident in which Ukrainian authorities faced backlash for sharing an artwork featuring Hindu goddess Kali in an unusual pose. Despite the diplomatic challenges, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently advocated for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

It’s essential to note that the claims made by Mykhailo Podolyak have been quoted in Sputnik, and Mint could not independently verify these remarks.
