PANAJI | As the New Year approaches, Goa experiences an unexpected warmth, deviating from the typical winter chill. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts dry weather prevailing over Goa throughout the weekend, with no significant alterations in weather patterns projected. The IMD’s extended forecast suggests a prolonged spell of dry conditions from December 30 to January 4.
“On December 30, isolated places may experience haze or shallow fog, while the overall weather is anticipated to remain dry,” stated the IMD in its weather advisory. The minimal fluctuations in minimum temperatures over 24 hours on Saturday maintain the prevailing climate pattern.
Despite a slight chill on Friday, the day witnessed a swift return of the heat by late morning, with Panaji recording a maximum temperature of 35.4°C. This unusual warmth during the winter season has intrigued locals and tourists alike, given that the region typically encounters cooler temperatures at this time of the year.
As residents and visitors prepare to bid farewell to 2023 and usher in the New Year, Goa’s unexpected warmth amid dry weather conditions sets the tone for a distinctive beginning to 2024.
