The government has orchestrated the convocation of an extraordinary parliamentary session spanning five days, from September 18 to 22, as disclosed by the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Pralhad Joshi, on the day of Thursday. The distinguished session, known as the 13th Session of the 17th Lok Sabha and the 261st Session of the Rajya Sabha, has been set in motion, whereupon a quintet of sittings shall ensue, as enunciated in the proclamation via a tweet by Minister Pralhad Joshi. At this juncture, the precise thematic ambit of the upcoming convocation remains veiled, a situation further heightened by its temporal proximity to the G20 Summit scheduled for September 9 and 10 within the national confines.

The minister, Joshi, took to the aforementioned digital platform to articulate his anticipation of substantive discourse during this unique “Amrit Kaal,” underscoring his yearning for productive deliberations and debates within the hallowed halls of Parliament. This proclamation was embellished with a depiction featuring both the antiquated parliamentary edifice juxtaposed with the contemporary edifice, the latter inaugurated under the aegis of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 28th of May. It merits attention that the immediately preceding monsoon session of Parliament was convened within the precincts of the erstwhile parliamentary structure.

The unexpected announcement of this Special Session has rippled through the political echelons, given the impending assembly elections across five states later in the ongoing year. This convocation stands in contrast to the customary winter session of Parliament, typically scheduled to convene during the latter part of November. The contours of this deliberative discourse, henceforth, remain under the curtain of ambiguity.
