In a significant development, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-IN), operating under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, has raised a ‘high severity’ warning aimed at Apple users. The advisory underscores the presence of multiple vulnerabilities within Apple’s product ecosystem.

These vulnerabilities pertain to critical issues, including certificate validation problems in the Security component, kernel-related issues, and errors in the Webkit component. They have the potential to enable malicious actors to execute arbitrary code, escalate privileges, or bypass security measures on the targeted systems.

CERT-IN stated, “These vulnerabilities exist in Apple products due to certificate validation issue in the Security component, an issue in the Kernel and error in the Webkit component. An attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by sending specially crafted requests.”

The affected software includes various Apple products:

1. Apple macOS Moneterey versions before 12.7

2. Apple macOS Ventura versions before 13.6

3. Apple watchOS versions before 9.6.3

4. Apple watchOS versions before 10.0.1

5. Apple iOS versions before 16.7 and iPadOS versions before 16.7

6. Apple iOS versions before 17.0.1 and iPadOS versions before 17.0.1

7. Apple Safari versions before 16.6.1

The government strongly recommends users to promptly install updates as provided by Apple.

Apple’s recent release of iOS 17, which occurred on September 17, has been accompanied by certain user complaints regarding battery drain. In response, the tech giant swiftly introduced iOS 17.0.1 and iOS 17.0.2 updates to address these issues.

Apple iPhone 15 Sees Phenomenal Demand in India

In other news, Apple’s latest offering, the iPhone 15, witnessed robust sales in India upon its recent launch. Reports indicate that the sales of the iPhone 15 series on its inaugural day achieved a remarkable 100% growth compared to the previous iPhone 14 series launch. The demand for domestically manufactured iPhone models was particularly high, marking a significant milestone for the company. Notably, this marks the first time that an iPhone series supports the ISRO-developed NavIC GPS system.

Tesla’s ‘Optimus’ Performs Yoga and Autonomous Sorting

In a remarkable display of technological advancement, Tesla’s humanoid robot, ‘Optimus,’ exhibited its capabilities by performing yoga poses. Tesla CEO Elon Musk shared a captivating image showcasing the robot’s yoga skills, underscoring its ability to self-calibrate its limbs.

‘Optimus’ is a versatile general-purpose robot introduced by Tesla in 2022. It is designed to undertake tasks considered unsafe, repetitive, or tedious for humans. Tesla’s official handle dedicated to tracking the development of ‘Optimus’ explained that the robot’s neural network is trained end-to-end, allowing it to process video input and generate precise control outputs. This cutting-edge technology enables ‘Optimus’ to autonomously locate its limbs in three-dimensional space.

Beyond yoga, ‘Optimus’ demonstrated its autonomous sorting capabilities, showcasing the ability to organize objects of different colors independently. It exhibited the capacity to adapt and correct actions, making it a versatile tool for various tasks.

Tesla initially announced ‘Optimus’ during its ‘Artificial Intelligence Day’ event in August 2021. The company has made significant strides in its development, with a prototype expected by 2022.

Tesla’s foray into humanoid robots aligns with its broader efforts in artificial intelligence, including AI inference chips, neural network training for its Autopilot system, and algorithm development for autonomous vehicles.
