Lucknow, In preparation for its inauguration, an Indian Air Force Boeing 737-700 BBJ executed a trial landing at the Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram Ayodhya airport on Friday, a week before the scheduled arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 30.
The airport, having received Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s (DGCA) license for commercial operations on December 14, is equipped to handle up to eight Airbus 320 or Boeing 737 Max series single-aisle 200-seater aircraft. It has the capability to operate at night and accommodate 500 passengers simultaneously.
The airport’s future plans include facilitating international flights once the runway is extended to 3,125m from the current 2,200m, and a second terminal is constructed.
This significant development enhances the anticipation surrounding the inauguration and underscores the strategic importance of the new Ayodhya airport.
