IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Alert for Multiple States Until September 17

In a significant meteorological development, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a comprehensive heavy rainfall warning extending until September 17 for various states across India.

On September 14, heavy to very heavy rainfall is anticipated over select regions including Odisha, east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh. Furthermore, the IMD’s forecast includes heavy rains over parts of Uttarakhand, west Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Telangana on Thursday.

The meteorological office has underlined the high probability of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha on September 15. Meanwhile, areas such as west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, ghat areas of central Maharashtra, and Marathwada are projected to experience similar weather conditions on September 16.

The weather outlook indicates that heavy to very heavy downpour is also expected in ghat areas of central Maharashtra and Marathwada on September 17. Furthermore, heavy rainfall is anticipated in various regions, including Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Telangana, Konkan, Goa, ghat areas of central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands on September 15.

Similar meteorological patterns are anticipated over parts of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, east Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Konkan, Goa, and the Gujarat region on September 16. On September 17, heavy rainfall is highly likely in parts of east Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, the Gujarat region, Vidarbha, Konkan, Goa, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

In addition to the heavy rainfall warnings, the IMD has also forecasted thunderstorms with lightning over various regions of India until Saturday. These thunderstorms, accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph, are anticipated on September 14 over Uttarakhand, east Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Puducherry, Karaikal, Yanam, Rayalaseema, and Mahe.

On September 15, similar thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are expected over Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Furthermore, isolated instances of thunderstorms with lightning are likely in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, and Jharkhand on September 16 and 17.

These meteorological developments come as a significant concern, and the authorities are advising residents in affected regions to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions.
