In a symbolic gesture of goodwill, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has announced the distribution of one lakh Tirupati laddus during the consecration of the Sri Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22. The revered laddus, a famous prasadam offered to Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala, will be a treat for devotees participating in the historic event.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with hundreds of VVIPs and thousands of devotees, is expected to partake in the temple consecration ceremony. TTD executive officer AV Dharma Reddy stated that Lord Venkateswara and Lord Rama are considered incarnations of Maha Vishnu, making the offering a significant gesture.

Each laddu, weighing approximately 25 grams, will be distributed as a goodwill gesture. This is a departure from the normal Tirupati laddu, which typically weighs around 170 grams. The prasadam will be transported to Ayodhya by road a day before the consecration, ensuring its availability with a shelf life of five days.

The TTD, responsible for managing Sri Venkateswara temple, produces about 4 lakh larger-sized laddus (175 grams each) and 75,000 smaller laddus (25 grams each) daily. The small laddus are traditionally distributed free to devotees after darshan in Tirumala temple.

In addition to this auspicious offering, the TTD is awaiting approval from the Uttar Pradesh government for the allocation of land to construct a replica temple of Lord Venkateswara in Ayodhya. This initiative is part of TTD’s broader plan to build Lord Balaji temples in every state and Union territory across the country.
