In a recent visit to Bihar, Union Home Minister Amit Shah instructed state BJP leaders to concentrate on the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, emphasizing the need to inform citizens across the state about the welfare measures implemented by PM Narendra Modi’s government, according to Bihar BJP Chief Samrat Choudhary.
During a meeting at the circuit house in Patna, Shah outlined a task list for BJP leaders. The directive involves a widespread outreach effort, with each Rajya Sabha MP covering three Lok Sabha constituencies, Lok Sabha MPs covering two, including their own, and every MLA addressing two assembly segments. The objective is to stay in each constituency for three days, simultaneously conducting a stock-taking exercise to ensure the equitable distribution of government welfare schemes.
The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, a nationwide campaign aimed at raising awareness, particularly in rural areas, has reached over 1.25 crore people in more than 40,000 gram panchayats, as mentioned by Modi during a speech on Saturday.
Choudhary conveyed that Shah emphasized the importance of reaching every household with the ‘Modi ki guarantee’ initiative, explaining the welfare schemes and illustrating how the vision for a developed India by 2047 would positively impact people’s lives. Shah urged the BJP to build on Modi’s achievements and gain trust among the populace.
The BJP chief asserted that Nitish Kumar had lost the trust of the people, being perceived as “weak, sick, and indecisive.” He added that BJP needed to capitalize on Modi’s accomplishments and the trust already established among the people.
Shah, at the eastern zonal council meeting in Patna, reiterated that the Centre did not impede Bihar’s caste-based survey and expressed support for it during the BJP’s participation in the state government. He acknowledged existing issues that needed resolution.
The BJP, known for advocating caste surveys and increased quotas, aims to strengthen its credibility among backward classes, leveraging the diversity of its leadership. Shah highlighted the BJP’s commitment to these communities through consecutive state presidents from Yadav, Vaishya, and Kushwaha backgrounds.
In response to Shah’s allegations about inflated numbers in the Bihar caste survey, the JD-U insisted that census responsibility lies with the Centre. The party called for a nationwide caste-based economic survey if issues persist, urging the Centre to refrain from rhetorical statements.
