PATNA: The NDA faced a problem of plenty after the alliance’s resounding victory in Bihar with several areas going unrepresented in the new ministry.

The NDA, which used to perform better in certain regions, widened its spectrum of representation. The alliance swept 14 of Bihar’s 38 districts outright winning every seat in these pockets. The region with Bihar’s North has accounted for 58% of the NDA’s MLAs. While South has 42% of berths, the NDA MLAs are split 56% North and 44% South.

When it comes to representation, only two and three cabinet berths went to the two regions. Out of 37 constituencies of Patna division, the NDA won 24 seats; in Patna division, adjustment for 11 ministerial berths out of 26 ministers sworn in, there were five ministers. Out of 37 NDA won 24 seats, but only two and three ministers sworn in these two regions.

Munger division, with six districts and 37 seats won, Munger district’s ministerial berths out of six had just one. Kosi division, with two big names of the BJP, Samrat Choudhary and Munger district’s Neeraj Kumar Singh Babloo didn’t find favour. “We hoped five to six MLAs from the Seemanchal area,” Kosi hopes were shattered,’’ a BJP leader said on condition of anonymity.

In Seemanchal, the NDA had performed well in the last government also. Two ministers sworn in this region were JD(U) veteran Bijendra Yadav in Ajgain in Kosi; while BJP Bihar president Dilli Jaiswal was also inducted in the ministry.
