Greater Noida,  Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary DS Mishra, after leading a joint coordination committee inspection, directed Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL) to ensure the completion of the Noida international airport project in Jewar by the end of September 2024. The directive was issued during a meeting with key stakeholders, including YIAPL CEO Christoph Schnellmann and Noida International Airport Limited CEO Arun Vir Singh.

Mishra, emphasizing adherence to fixed timelines, inspected crucial areas such as the air traffic control building, runway, terminal building, and parking. He urged officials to expedite the work to ensure the airport’s operational readiness by the specified deadline.

Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) reported that 80% of the runway work has been completed, and the eight-story air traffic control (ATC) building is nearing its final stages. Mishra stressed the importance of coordination among various departments, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Central Industrial Security Force, and the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

Issues related to airport security were discussed in detail, and Mishra emphasized smooth coordination to facilitate seamless operations once construction concludes. Contractor Tata Projects has increased the workforce to over 7,000 workers to expedite the project.

Upon completion of Phase 1, the airport is expected to handle 12 million passengers annually, increasing to 70 million in Phase 4. The initial phase will feature a 3,900-meter runway with 28 aircraft stands, accommodating 100,000 air traffic movements per year. A passenger terminal spanning 100,000 square meters is also part of the construction plan.
