Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has greenlit an allocation of Rs 45 crore for the establishment of 150 multi-purpose community centers, aimed at preserving the cultural and heritage aspects of minority communities across 22 districts in the state. The initiative, part of the ‘Nabin Odisha’ and ‘5T’ transformational agenda, focuses on fostering spaces for Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, and Sikhs to engage in diverse community-based activities.
This significant financial commitment underscores the state’s commitment to inclusivity, cultural preservation, and minority welfare. The move is expected to bolster community-based initiatives within the multi-purpose centers, contributing to a more vibrant and integrated societal fabric.
The announcement comes on the heels of a meeting between Chairman V K Pandian of the ‘Nabin Odisha’ and ‘5T’ initiatives and representatives from Cuttack Oriya Baptist Church, Church of Christ (Union Church), Bhubaneswar, and BJD Minority Cell. The ‘5T’ approach, emphasizing teamwork, technology, transparency, and transformation, aligns with the state’s endeavors to ensure effective governance and developmental initiatives.
This latest development follows the government’s ongoing efforts to transform places of worship, including the revered Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri and the Shree Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar.
