In a recent development within the political landscape, Congress Party President Mallikarjun Kharge has issued a stern advisory to his party members. He cautioned against lavishing unnecessary praise upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This directive came in the wake of Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister T S Singh Deo’s spontaneous commendation of PM Modi during an event in Raigadh. Initially, the Congress had brushed off Deo’s remarks as a gesture of courtesy. Still, during a Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, Kharge unequivocally urged all members to exercise restraint when it comes to lauding the Prime Minister.

Kharge’s emphasis on unity and discipline within the party took center stage during this meeting. He urged CWC members, state unit presidents, and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leaders to work relentlessly towards the common goal of defeating the BJP in both the forthcoming Assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Kharge also underscored the importance of being prepared for elections in Jammu and Kashmir whenever they are announced.

The Congress President’s critique of the Narendra Modi government was unambiguous. Kharge accused the government of diverting public attention away from fundamental issues. He stressed that unity and discipline are the key attributes required to triumph over political adversaries, citing the successful example of Karnataka, where these principles were upheld.

In his assertion, Kharge argued that in the past decade under BJP rule, the challenges faced by ordinary citizens have intensified. He alleged that the Prime Minister is turning a blind eye to the concerns of the marginalized, farmers, laborers, women, and youth. According to Kharge, the Prime Minister’s focus remains centered on himself, a situation that the Congress President believes cannot be tolerated.

As Chhattisgarh prepares for upcoming elections, Mallikarjun Kharge’s strategic counsel serves as a significant marker in the evolving political landscape. The call for unity and discipline within the party and the determination to confront challenges head-on reflect a renewed vigor within the Congress ranks as they navigate the complex political terrain.
