Hyderabad, In a significant political development, Anumula Revanth Reddy, a prominent Congress leader, assumed office as the Chief Minister of Telangana. This momentous occasion follows the party’s decisive victory in the recently concluded Assembly elections. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the iconic Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad, symbolizing a historic transition in the state’s political landscape.

Anumula Revanth Reddy, at 56 years old, now holds the distinction of being the first Congress Chief Minister of Telangana since its formation in 2014. The event garnered attention as Bhatti Vikramarka also took the oath, assuming the role of Deputy Chief Minister in the southern state.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of key political figures, including Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) chairperson Sonia Gandhi, former AICC president Rahul Gandhi, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar. Their attendance underscored the significance of this political shift.

Anumula Revanth Reddy, currently a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha representing Malkajgiri Constituency, has a notable political journey. His earlier victories in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections in 2014 and subsequent switch to the Congress in 2017 have contributed to his rise in the political arena.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Reddy on his new role and assured unwavering support for the progress and welfare of Telangana. The Prime Minister’s acknowledgment highlights the broader implications of this change in leadership.

The Congress party’s triumph in the recent Assembly polls marked a significant shift in Telangana’s political landscape, with 64 out of 119 seats secured. This electoral success replaced the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), which had governed the state for the past decade.
