New Delhi – In a recent development, the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has affirmed that the arrest of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh in the Delhi liquor policy case was neither unwarranted nor unreasonable. The court’s statement came on Thursday following Singh’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), during which he was subjected to over 10 hours of questioning. Subsequently, he was remanded in the custody of the central agency until October 10.

The ED alleged that Sanjay Singh was directly linked to the receipt of proceeds amounting to Rs 2 crore in the Delhi liquor policy case. According to the investigative agency, these funds were transferred to Singh from Dinesh Arora, a former accused turned approver.

Notably, the court emphasized that Dinesh Arora’s statements were consistent with Singh’s involvement in the alleged scam, and there was no evidence to suggest any impropriety in Arora’s statements.

Moreover, the court found it imperative to subject Sanjay Singh to sustained custodial interrogation to trace the complete financial trail of the funds he received and to further investigate related activities.

The court also underscored that while the veracity of the statements made by Dinesh Arora and others against Sanjay Singh would be tested during the trial, for investigative purposes, such statements had to be considered credible.

Prior to his arrest, Sanjay Singh released a video message to his party members, expressing his readiness to face the situation without fear. He highlighted his consistent stance against alleged corruption involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gautam Adani, as well as his previous complaints filed with the ED regarding Adani’s purported corruption.

In the video, Singh voiced his surprise at the sudden ED raid on his residence, emphasizing that despite the search yielding no evidence, he was apprehended.

This development in the Delhi liquor policy case continues to draw attention and sparks discussions surrounding its legal and political implications.
