Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu has unexpectedly resigned from the YSR Congress Party shortly after joining. Rayudu, who entered politics just last week, cited a decision to step back from political activities without providing a specific reason. He expressed that further actions would be disclosed in due course.

In a social media post, Rayudu stated, “This is to inform everyone that I have decided to quit the YSRCP Party and stay out of politics for a little while. Further action will be conveyed in due course of time.”

Rayudu, known for his career with the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL), retired from IPL in 2023 after winning the tournament with his team. His entry into politics was marked by joining the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh, witnessed by Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister K. Narayana Swamy, and Rajampeta Lok Sabha member P. Mithun Reddy.

During his cricket career, Rayudu played 55 ODIs for India, scoring 1694 runs with an average of 47.05. He also represented various state cricket bodies in domestic cricket. His unexpected departure from YSRCP leaves questions about his future endeavors both in politics and beyond.
