In an unprecedented feat, Gujarat secured a place in the Guinness Book of World Records by orchestrating the largest simultaneous Surya Namaskar session on New Year’s morning. Over 4,000 participants across 108 locations engaged in this cultural and wellness spectacle.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Gujarat’s accomplishment, emphasizing the cultural significance of the number 108. He urged citizens to incorporate Surya Namaskar into their daily routines, citing its immense benefits.

The event, hosted at various locations, including the renowned Modhera Sun Temple, attracted diverse groups such as families, students, yoga enthusiasts, and senior citizens. State Chief Minister Bhupesh Patel and Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi attended the event at Modhera.

Chief Minister Patel expressed pride in Gujarat’s achievement, emphasizing the global embrace of yoga. A total of around 50,000 people across the state participated, solidifying the state’s commitment to yoga and health.

Swapnil Dangarikar, Adjudicator at Guinness World Records, confirmed the new record, highlighting the successful establishment of a new title for the most people performing Surya Namaskar.

Singhvi, expressing pride, stated that Gujarat’s achievement marked a significant moment globally, where thousands practiced yoga simultaneously at various locations.

This historic event not only set a Guinness World Record but also showcased Gujarat’s dedication to yoga, cultural heritage, and overall well-being.
