In a move to address the significant shortage of manpower in Israel’s construction sector due to the ongoing conflict, Haryana Kaushal Rojgar Nigam (HKRN), a state public sector company, has announced the recruitment of 10,000 skilled workers for Israel. The minimum educational qualification required is a Class X pass, with candidates in the 25 to 54 age group and a minimum experience of three years being eligible.

According to the advertisement released by HKRN, the recruited workers will be involved in industrialized building formwork, wood formwork, ceramic tiling of floors and walls, plastering work, and iron bending. Candidates are also expected to possess a sound knowledge of reading construction plans. The monthly salary for the positions is set at 6100 NIS (Israeli currency), equivalent to approximately Rs 1.34 lakh, with the ongoing cancellation of work permits for around 90,000 Palestinians contributing to the shortage of workers in Israel.

While this move is aimed at addressing the workforce deficit in Israel, it comes amidst debates on joblessness in Haryana. The state has also recently advertised for the recruitment of 50 bouncers for Dubai and 120 staff nurses for the UK.

It’s worth noting that this initiative follows the statement by Junior Minister of External Affairs V Muraleedharan, who informed the Rajya Sabha that the Centre has not engaged in discussions with Israel regarding the replacement of Palestinian workers with Indians. The move has sparked discussions, especially considering the rise in unemployment in Haryana as reported by Junior Union Minister for Labour and Employment, Rameshwar Teli.
