In a heartwarming gesture, Rahul Gandhi, the Congress MP from Wayanad, took on the role of a chef to prepare his mother Sonia Gandhi’s favorite orange marmalade. Utilizing his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s perfected recipe, Rahul shared a video capturing the mother-son duo’s culinary adventure.

“Orange marmalade is my Mum’s favorite Jam, and Priyanka has perfected the recipe over time. Now it’s my turn to fill these delightful jars of joy,” captioned Rahul Gandhi in the video.

The video showcases the Gandhis engaging in banter as they craft the orange marmalade. Rahul humorously remarks, “If BJP people want to get the jam, they can get it too,” eliciting laughter from Sonia Gandhi.

During the process, Sonia Gandhi praised Rahul’s caring nature, despite his admitted stubbornness. The video unfolds with the duo picking small oranges from the garden, washing, and juicing them. Rahul, with a light-hearted spirit, suggests even BJP members can enjoy the jam, to which Sonia responds with humor.

The conversation takes a nostalgic turn as they discuss family cooking traditions, highlighting Sonia Gandhi’s mother as the best cook in the family. Reminiscing about adapting to Indian flavors, Sonia shares her journey of initially struggling with spices abroad.

“It took me time to adjust to Indian flavors, especially the chillies and green coriander. Now, every time I come from abroad, the first thing I want is arhar (toor) daal and rice,”* Sonia Gandhi shared.

The video offers a glimpse into the personal side of the Gandhis, showcasing a family moment filled with laughter, shared memories, and the joy of preparing a beloved recipe together.
