In the latest weather update, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts heavy rains in certain districts of Tamil Nadu until December 19. Chennai experienced heavy rainfall recently, with cloudy skies and moderate rain expected in the next 48 hours. The IMD also predicts dense fog in isolated pockets over Punjab and Haryana, impacting visibility during morning hours. Meanwhile, Srinagar records a bone-chilling temperature of minus 3.5 degrees Celsius.

IMD projections indicate isolated heavy rainfall in south Tamil Nadu and Kerala from December 15 to 19. Specific districts like Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Pudukkottai, and Sivaganga may experience heavy to very heavy rain. The forecast extends to other districts on subsequent days. The northern states grapple with dense fog, affecting travel and daily routines.

This weather update follows the aftermath of Cyclone ‘Michaung,’ which brought heavy rainfall to Chennai and nearby areas earlier this month, resulting in flooding and property damage. As winter sets in, northern regions experience cold temperatures, and Srinagar faces severe cold at minus 3.5 degrees Celsius. The cold wave disrupts daily life, causing discomfort and poor visibility on the roads.

As the nation prepares for varied weather conditions, staying informed about regional forecasts becomes crucial for residents and travelers.
