In a significant gesture marking the 15th anniversary of the tragic Mumbai terror attacks, Israel has officially designated Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) as a terrorist organization. The decision was independently made by Israel, with the Israeli Embassy stating that all necessary procedures have been completed.
The Israeli Embassy’s statement highlighted the collaborative efforts of the Israeli ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs, emphasizing the expedited and extraordinary listing of LeT. The move aims to underscore the importance of a Unified Global Front in combating terrorism. The decision comes without any formal request from the Indian government, reflecting Israel’s commitment to addressing global security challenges.
Notably, the Mumbai terror attacks on November 26, 2008, left an indelible mark on international consciousness. Two Israeli nationals, Gabriel Holtzberg and Rivka Holtzberg, were among the six Jewish victims at Mumbai’s Chabad Lubavitch Jewish center, also known as the Chabad House.
The embassy termed LeT a “deadly and reprehensible terror organization” responsible for the murder of hundreds of Indians. The heinous actions of LeT on November 26, 2008, continue to resonate, impacting peace-seeking nations and societies worldwide.
Expressing sincere condolences to all victims of terrorism, survivors, and bereaved families of the Mumbai attacks, the Embassy of Israel extended solidarity to those in Israel affected by this heinous act.
